KBT-ESF headquarters is located in Lewis County, Washington, in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Through the generous in-kind support of our donors, we are able to provide this suite of live environmental monitoring data to our community and the broader region we serve.

Our station array includes a Raspberry Shake RS4D seismograph for real-time ground motion and infrasound detection, a weather station providing local atmospheric conditions, a BirdWeather PUC using AI to identify and log bird species by song in real time, and an air quality sensor monitoring local particulate and pollution levels.

Per our donors' wishes, all data collected by this station array is shared openly with the scientific community, including the National Weather Service, earthquake researchers, and bird migration scientists, contributing to a broader understanding of our region's environment.

This data also directly supports KBT-ESF's mission of disaster reconnaissance and community resilience, seismic activity can signal emerging hazards, air quality shifts can indicate wildfire impact, weather patterns inform deployment decisions, and unusual changes in local bird behavior can serve as an early environmental indicator, giving our teams real-time situational awareness when it matters most.
