Where your donation goes
Your support funds real-world readiness and community help. Typical uses include:
-
Response supplies: water, hygiene items, blankets, basic comfort supplies
-
Safety and operations: PPE, radios/chargers, batteries, lighting, first-aid restock (non-medical care unless properly staffed)
-
Community stations: warming/cooling support items, phone charging equipment
-
Field logistics: storage, transport, fuel reimbursement for mission-related operations (when applicable)
-
Programs and outreach: preparedness materials, community education, printing, and basic training costs
-
Administrative essentials: website hosting, software, insurance, compliance, operating cost and accounting support
How we prevent waste and abuse
We use a simple accountability model:
-
Documented purchasing: expenses are tracked and categorized
-
Mission-only spending: funds are used for preparedness, response, and recovery support
-
Separation of funds: nonprofit funds are kept separate from any personal or business finances
-
Periodic transparency updates: we publish a summary of spending and impact (as available)
How you can verify we are legitimate
We encourage you to do your due diligence. You can verify us by:
-
Checking our official registration status and public filings
-
Reviewing our posted transparency updates and annual summaries
-
Contacting us directly with questions before donating
-
Check our status with the WA Secretary of State and the IRS for our 501(c)(3) status.
A note about trust
We understand scams are real, and we don’t take your trust lightly. If you ever have questions about a donation, supplies, or a campaign, contact us at: support@kbt-esf.org
Donations are used to support the mission and may be allocated where needs are greatest unless a restricted donation is clearly designated and accepted.
